TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — While hotels and other lodging industries can now open at full capacity in Florida, short-term renters are banned from welcoming guests for getaways as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
- The executive order was set to expire, but last week Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis extended the vacation-rental ban indefinitely for short-term rentals.
- There is currently a petition with more than 30,000 signatures asking for the governor to reverse the decision.
- Some renters believe their constitutional rights are being violated. Now, some property owners and a vacation-rental management company have filed a federal lawsuit against DeSantis in response.
