Atlantic Boulevard closes between East Coast Drive and the oceanfront due to flooding

Atlantic Blvd. closed in Atlantic Beach

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — Atlantic Boulevard is closed from East Coast Drive to the oceanfront because of heavy rainfall and standing water, the Atlantic Beach Police Department said Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said about 12 inches of water covers the roadway, making it unsafe for vehicles.

Drivers should use an alternate route until conditions improve and the road can be safely reopened.

Our First Alert Weather Team has designated today a First Alert Weather Day as a local nor’easter develops, bringing heavy rainfall, flooding and strong winds across our area.

Police asked for patience and cooperation and urged drivers to use caution in the area as rain continues.
