JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Rain in the forecast throughout the day Monday is leading to the closure of many National Night Out events across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
According to its website, “National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.”

Here is a list of the law enforcement agencies that have announced cancelations of their events:
Northeast Florida
Baker County Sheriff’s Office
“Sheriff Scotty Rhoden and the Baker County Sheriff’s Office regret to announce that National Night Out, scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, at the Macclenny Duck Pond, has been cancelled due to the inclement weather we have been experiencing.
“With the forecast calling for a 100% chance of rain Tuesday, continuing into the evening hours, the safety of our families, community partners, and staff remains our priority.
“We appreciate everyone who helped plan this event and those who were looking forward to joining us. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Please stay safe!”
Lake City Police Department
“National Night Out has been canceled due anticipated inclement weather.
“Save the date for 2027! Tue, Oct 5.”
St. Augustine Beach Police Department
“It is with regret that we announce the cancellation of the National Night Out event scheduled for Tuesday, October 6.
“After consultation with our partners at the St. Johns County Emergency Management and in light of the latest weather forecasts associated with the incoming nor’easter, the decision has been made to cancel the event in the interest of public safety. Forecasted impacts include significant rainfall, flooding concerns, hazardous winds, and coastal conditions that may require first responder resources to be redirected into the community to support emergency preparedness and response efforts.
“The safety and well-being of our residents, visitors, volunteers, and event participants remain our highest priority.
“We would also like to extend a special thank you to all of our sponsors, community partners, non-profit organizations, vendors, and volunteers whose support and commitment helps make this event possible every year.
“Thank you for your understanding and continued support of our community.”
Southeast Georgia
