JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Mayor Donna Deegan announced on her Facebook page Friday that her dog, Augie, has died.
She said the pet spent nearly 14 years in the home she shares with her husband, former TV meteorologist Tim Deegan.
“It is with indescribable sadness that I share the passing of our sweet boy,” the mayor said. “He was a great comfort in our darkest times and a constant reminder to live in the moment.”
Deegan said the dog was her “constant companion” since she and her daughter brought him home at four months old.
“I even brought him to City Hall a couple of times - and, of course, he took over the place,” she said. “Breathe easy and run free my sweet, stubborn, happy boy. We love you forever and we will see you on the other side.”
