City of Jacksonville offering one-time $300 payment for qualifying seniors, disabled citizens

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A grant program will provide qualifying Jacksonville seniors and disabled citizens with a one-time $300 payment.

The City of Jacksonville said the Senior and Disabled Financial Assistance Program will be launched on Saturday, June 20, at 8 a.m. to provide support for senior citizens age 72 and older and anyone receiving Social Security disability benefits.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I QUALIFY?

The $300 payment will be given to 3,300 seniors and disabled citizens on a first come, first served basis to applicants who meet the following qualifications:

NOTE: You must also provide your date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security Number.

HOW DO I APPLY?

  • Qualified citizens are asked to create a MyJax account at myjax.custhelp.com (follow the link for the “Senior and Disabled Financial Assistance Program”) before applying. (NOTE: Citizens can create the MyJax account immediately but the application process will not begin until Saturday, June 20 at 8 a.m.) COJ said the same website and account will be used for the application process.
  • Citizens can also call 904-255-8888 for assistance with their application starting Saturday, June 20, at 8 a.m.

HOW WILL I GET PAID?

Applicants will receive a payment card in the mail. Applicants must call the customer service number provided with the card for activation. The card must be used like a credit card. There is no cash back from an ATM or a register. Only one card will be issued per household.
